Thousands of pieces of jewelry with heavy metals seized

Illegal products are seized every year from shipments to both private individuals and businesses. The Danish Chemicals Inspectorate and the Danish Customs Authority have together seized 5860 pieces of jewellery containing heavy metals such as cadmium and lead. Cadmium and lead are prohibited in jewellery according to the REACH regulation, which is why all the jewellery is sent for destruction. The Danish Customs Authority has also seized 4080 pieces that were counterfeit and/or pirated.
