A new OECD guide informs REACH registrants how they can use alternative data to assess skin sensitization and still obtain reliable results. This new OECD guideline can therefore contribute to reducing the amount of animal testing, while at the same time protecting humans from allergies induced by chemicals. One of the alternative sources of data that can be used is “in silico tools” which are computer simulation programs e.g. QSAR Toolbox.
