What is a chemical workplace assessment – chemical APV?

The chemical APV is a chemical Risk assessment of a product or a work process where chemicals are used. The chemical APV must ensure that it is safe for the user to use chemical products in the individual work process.

The chemical APV is based on:

  • Training
  • Instruction
  • Education.

The chemical APV is a chemical risk assessment of the hazardous properties of the product and the possible exposure of the user to the product. It is therefore important to be aware that in future you will not have to prepare a workplace instruction manual per substance, but rather you will have to prepare a chemical APV per substance. process or per product.

If the chemical risk assessment identifies factors that need to be changed or improved, this must be described in the action plan for the general APV.

Every time changes are made – for example, if the supplier changes the composition of the chemicals used, if new chemicals are switched to, or if the workflows of the process are changed, the chemical APV must be reassessed.

How can Mediator help prepare chemical APV?

At Mediator, we help you get started and together we will prepare a template for your chemical APVs. We have a practical approach to the task and are based on solutions that naturally fit into your existing systems and workplace instructions.

We therefore typically start with a round-up of the company, where together we form a overview of chemical processes, the hazard of the substances, type and use. This provides a number of processes that form the basis for the chemical risk assessment. We collect data in the form of the latest safety data sheets for the product or products used in the process.

The following factors, among others, must be assessed:

  • Which chemical substances and materials are hazardous, and in what way?
  • How and to what extent are employees exposed to the materials?
  • How do you use the materials, such as mixing and application methods?
  • What preventive measures, such as sealing, venting, ventilation and use of protective equipment should you meet and incorporate into the chemical APV?

Mediator can prepare your chemical APVs or we can hold a course with you, so that you yourself will be able to prepare and maintain your chemical APVs.
