New bans on harmful substances in cosmetics from May 2026
From 1 May 2026, 15 CMR-classified substances will be banned in cosmetics, while three substances may only be used under special conditions. The changes follow from EU regulations and mean that products containing the banned substances may no longer be marketed or sold in the EU.
Manufacturers, importers and brand owners should therefore review formulations, update safety assessments and ensure compliance for both new and existing products before the deadline.
