Security advice
Who needs a security advisor?
Companies that transport, package, ship, receive or otherwise engage in the transport of dangerous goods.
Transport can take place via:
- road (ADR)
- railway (RID)
- sea (IMDG)
- air (IATA)
It is the Danish Transport Authority that determines whether a company is covered by the requirement to have a safety advisor attached.
The safety advisor's job is to help prevent accidents when transporting dangerous goods. In addition, the advisor must help ensure that conditions before, during and after the transport of dangerous goods comply with the legal requirements. This means that the advisor must help the company introduce procedures that make it possible to comply with the requirements.
The safety advisor function can be performed by people both inside and outside the company. The advisor must simply be in possession of a valid certificate of having passed the safety advisor exam.
Many companies choose a third party to handle the security advisory task.
