Imports of selected CO2- and energy-intensive goods must now be reported in a new EU register
The EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) will enter into force on 1 October 2023. This means that companies will now have to submit a report with emissions data for the completed imports of goods to the EU Commission's CBAM registry if they import CBAM goods. All affected importers are expected to have access to the EU Commission's CBAM registry by the end of the year.
