EU adopts new packaging regulation

On 22 January 2025, the new EU Regulation on Packaging and Packaging Waste (PPWR) was published in the Official Journal of the EU. The regulation replaces the previous directive from 1994 and introduces a number of stricter requirements for packaging. Among others, packaging minimization, minimum content of recycled material in plastic packaging, environmental claims and packaging labelling.
