Home » On March 1, the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration will launch three inspection campaigns.
- Use and labeling of food contact materials (FKM). Boxes, tubs, cups, containers and other types of packaging and equipment intended for contact with food must not emit unwanted chemicals. Otherwise, the chemicals risk being transferred to the food and subsequently to consumers. Therefore, it is important that you use the right packaging and equipment in the right way when handling and selling food. For example, there are tubs that can be used for cold foods, but not for hot foods.
- Control of health claims of dietary supplements. Consumers must be able to trust the health claims made about a dietary supplement. If you sell dietary supplements, you may only use health claims that have been approved by the EU Commission in your marketing of the dietary supplement. The rules apply to both what is stated on the product itself and what you write about the product on, for example, your website, webshop and social media. Furthermore, you may never state that a dietary supplement can treat diseases or symptoms of disease.
- Storage temperature for perishable foods. If food that requires refrigeration is stored at the wrong temperatures, it can have an impact on food safety. For example, storing at too high a temperature can result in disease-causing bacteria growing in the food. Therefore, it is important that you as a food business have control over storage temperatures, that you carry out routine monitoring via temperature measurements, and that the measurements are made correctly.
