The Danish Environmental Protection Agency reminds us that toys – especially those made of soft plastic – also have a kind of “expiration date”. Toys produced before 2007 may contain hormone-disrupting phthalates, which are now banned. The authorities therefore recommend that you avoid old and smelly toys when buying, inheriting or donating them, and that you sort out questionable toys for recycling. The advice is simple: If you are in doubt about the age or content, choose something else, says the Danish Environmental Protection Agency.
