LCA is an abbreviation for Life Cycle Assessment, and is a very effective tool for assessing the environmental impact of a product or process throughout its entire life cycle. A life cycle assessment is also a real way to make visible the real environmental challenges that a product or process has during its life cycle.

A powerful tool for the green profile

As a company, there is a great competitive advantage in having a green profile. It can make it easier to be chosen as a supplier, and with the LCA it becomes clear which processes have the greatest impact on the environment, and where there is a basis for environmental and economic savings. The LCA is thus a very valuable basis for further development and gives you:

• A tool that documents green claims.
• Documentation of compliance with the Marketing Practices Act §5, 6 and 13.
• A tool to locate potential environmental improvements.
• Insight into potential environmental benefits and savings.
• It may be a customer requirement to become part of the supply chain.
• The first step towards having an EPD prepared, i.e. an environmental product declaration.

Whether you want a total solution or a customized process, we have the experience and insight required to teach, perform and assist in preparing LCA. We offer LCA software if you want to have your data in-house. We can handle the entire process, parts of it or act as a sparring partner along the way:

• We solve the entire task so that all data is collected with us.
• You invest in LCA software, and we help with implementation and subsequently assist in solving the task.
• You invest in LCA software, and we help with implementation, training and subsequently act as a sparring partner.

If you choose to let Mediator handle the entire task, but later want to invest in LCA software, it is possible to transfer data subsequently.

You will then be presented with an LCA report that is structured in accordance with applicable standards. The LCA report documents the environmental and climate impact of your product or process and provides information on which processes are most burdensome. The report can also be used as a basis for your future environmental efforts. If the LCA report was prepared by Mediator, you can list this as a 3rd party product.

A well-tested process

Before we get started, we agree on how you would like to collaborate. After that, the LCA process can proceed as follows:

1. Clarification of what should be calculated and how.
2. Data collection and structuring. It is your job to collect data, but we assist with the structural part. The more transparency there is in data generation, the better CO2eq figures you can achieve.
3. Decoding of data and LCA calculation.
4. Preparation of LCA background report.
