Verify LCA for an EPD

An EPD stands for Environmental Product Declaration. The EPD documents how building materials affect the environment during production, use and disposal, and if your company supplies to the construction industry, there may be several advantages to having a 3rd party verification of the LCA for an EPD.

The requirements to document CO2eq emissions in new construction are facing further tightening in the near future. It must be documented how much CO2eq is emitted per m2/year over the life of the building. An EPD is therefore an advantage because

• This may be a requirement to be considered as a supplier for a construction project.
• It is easier to be considered as a supplier for construction projects that require sustainability certification according to, for example, DGNB, BREEAM, LEED or the Nordic Ecolabel.
• The EPD forms the basis for the LCA that must be prepared at building level.

• You invest in LCA software, and we help with implementation and subsequently assist in solving the task, including dialogue with the EPD verifier.
• You invest in LCA software, and we help with implementation, training and subsequently act as a sparring partner, and we can also assist with EPD verifier dialogue.

If you choose to let Mediator handle the entire task, but later want to invest in LCA software, it is possible to transfer data subsequently.

When the process is finished and has gone through EPD verification, you have an EPD report that follows the applicable standards in a structured form. The EPD report documents the environmental and climate impact of your product or process. The EPD report also contains information about which processes are most burdensome.
